Privacy policy
What this site collects, why, for how long, and what you can ask for.
Last updated: October 13, 2026
In short
- The forms are only used to reply to you or to prepare your assessment.
- Audience measurement works without cookies and with anonymized IP addresses.
- Your information is never sold, rented or traded.
- You can view it, have it corrected or have it deleted at any time.
Who's responsible
Scooter Cargo is run by Sylvain Picard, who is also the person in charge of protecting personal information. For any question about this policy or your information: salut@scootercargo.org.
What the site collects, and why
- Free assessment: the artist, album or catalogue name, and your email, to prepare your report and send it to you.
- Contact form: your name, email and message, to reply to you.
- Booking a call: this happens on Calendly, which handles the information you enter under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email and the time you choose.
- Audience measurement: visit statistics (pages viewed, referring site, device type), to learn what is useful on the site and improve it. They are not used to identify you.
- Security: to block mass submissions, the forms compute a fingerprint of your IP address that changes every day. The address itself is not stored. As with any website, our web host also keeps technical logs (IP address, browser, requested page) to keep the server running properly.
For visitors in the European Union, this processing is based on pre-contractual steps taken at your request (forms, bookings) and on our legitimate interest in measuring the site's audience and keeping it secure.
Cookies
The site sets no cookies at all: no advertising, social media or analytics cookies. Fonts are hosted on the site itself, with no call to an outside service. That's why no banner asks for your consent.
Who has access
Only Sylvain Picard reads your information. A few technical providers host or deliver it for us, without being able to use it for anything else:
- our web host, located in Canada, which runs the site and forwards form messages to our inbox;
- Matomo Cloud (InnoCraft), for audience measurement — data hosted in Germany;
- Calendly, for bookings — data hosted in the United States.
Some of these providers are therefore located outside Quebec. Before entrusting them with information, we make sure they protect it adequately. No information is shared with any other third party unless required by law.
How long we keep it
- Messages and assessment requests: as long as needed to handle your request, then no more than 3 years after our last exchange. If you become a client, for the duration of the project, then as long as accounting and tax obligations require.
- Visit statistics: no more than 25 months.
- IP address fingerprints: they're only used to count submissions within the current hour, then deleted automatically.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS only, with strict security headers. The forms reject automated submissions and do not store your messages on the server: they reach us by email.
Your rights
At any time, you can:
- find out what information we hold about you and get a copy;
- have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
- have it deleted, or withdraw your consent;
- receive it in a common format, to pass it on elsewhere.
Write to salut@scootercargo.org: we reply within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our reply, you can contact Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information or, if you live in the European Union, your country's data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
Metadata published for a project
The metadata you entrust us with for a project (artist names, titles, credits, identifiers) is published, at your request, on Wikidata and MusicBrainz. These databases are public and released under the CC0 open licence: once published, this information can be viewed and reused by anyone. We only publish what helps identify your music — never your contact details.
Updates
This policy may change, for example if the site switches providers. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page.
